Workers at Minsur's Funsur tin refinery in Peru reached a payment deal on January 6, ending a month-long strike. The 40,000 tpy plant resumed production the following day, and is now ramping back up to full capacity. There has been no confirmation from the company about how much production has been lost, but we calculate that a full shutdown during the period of industrial action could have resulted in a loss of 3,500 tonnes. Over half of Funsur's production is exported to the USA, so this market would have suffered most from the downtime. However, the strike occurred over the quiet seasonal holiday period and therefore had little impact on tin consumers.
