Base metals rally stumbles in February...but this correction was long over-due

As this report goes to press, the base metals price rally is stuttering Behind the waves of selling are a number of coinciding factors. Signs of weakness are emerging in the US economy and a spate of data recently has cast doubt on Germany's latest attempts at recovery. Oil prices have fallen, and in doing so eased speculation that inflation will accelerate. On the back of this, gold also suffered a sharp correction, which has fed through to the other metals and initiated a phase of profit-taking.
