Defra forecast misleading' on waste capacity

A team of environmental researchers has concluded that some English regions will be under-equipped to process waste in the run-up to 2020, and criticised the methodology used by Defra to forecast waste infrastructure capacity. They forecast that England will have a capacity gap of more than 11 million tonnes by 2020. The research at Imperial College London was commissioned by Veolia Environmental Services (VES) to "achieve a clearer understanding of the UK's needs".
