摘要

Extensive research has focused on the neuropathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) due to an urgent need for effective preventive and therapeutic measures. AD neuropathology encompasses accumulation of neurotoxic p-amyloid (Ap) and hyperphosphoryl-ated tau proteins, leading to neurodegeneration.Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) is a ubiquitous neuro-tropic virus among humans. The virus establishes a lifelong latent infection in the peripheral nervous system, usually in the trigeminal ganglia. Infected individuals usually remain asymptomatic, but the virus is reactivated during stress and immunosuppression.
