Rebound of inflammatory response after withdrawal of statins does not increases event rates in patients witti stable cardiac disease

Dear Editor,Dr. J.J. Li hypothesized that reboundishenomenon of inflammatory response may be a major mecha-nism responsible for increased cardiovascular events after abrupt cessation of statin therapy . However, a detailed explanation is missing. It must be mentioned that there are increased cardio-vascular events after short-term abrupt cessation of statin therapy in acute coronary syndromes pa-tients , but the TNT investigators have shown that in stable coronary heart disease patients, stop-ping statins for a short time is safe .
