摘要

The farhyphen;infrared spectra of thin films of PH4Cl and PD3Cl have been recorded at minus;170deg;C. Raman spectra of polycrystalline samples of both compounds were also recorded at minus;170deg;C. One libration and three translations were observed as well as eight internal modes. Several combinations and overtones were assigned and the zonehyphen;edge wavenumber of a second libration has been inferred. The barrier restricting rehyphen;orientation of the PH4and PD4ions has been calculated from the observed librational wavenumbers to be 8.5 kcal/mole and forces contributing to the barrier are discussed. The lattice dimensions of PH4Cl were determined to beathinsp;equals;thinsp;bthinsp;equals;thinsp;5.82 Aring;andcthinsp;equals;thinsp;4.22 Aring;from the xhyphen;ray diffraction pattern of a polycrystalline sample.
