Government plan recognises challenges facing local authorities

Plans for additional local authority funding and a new support programme have been welcomed as "recognition of the very real challenges that authorities face in delivering more sustainable waste practices". Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee chairman Andy Doran said the Government's response to the Strategy Unit (SU) report, which outlined plans for a Waste Implementation Programme (WIP), was "broadly welcomed.
