A difficult summer lies ahead for non-ferrous merchants, but blaming summer shutdowns for weakening demand is not correct. "It is really too early to blame that," one merchant said. "There is definitely a downturn in manufacturing trade." He told MRW that aluminium, gunmetal and copper prices are all weakening as a lack of orders takes hold and prices could drop further. The latest non-ferrous report from the Bureau of International Recycling also predicts a difficult time ahead. "A tough summer seems almost inevitable for all concerned with control of costs and efficiencies likely to emerge as important factors once again," its UK report said.
