The news that some metal recyclers may find themselves having to alter their drainage and interceptor systems to conform to waste regulation controls on oil collection will shock many in the industry. And some regulators too are certain to be surprised at this latest development. However, before any alarm spreads the issue should be seen in perspective. Not all in the industry deal in turnings and similar materials and the Environment Agency, in the Midlands at least, seems to be willing to take a measured approach to the problem.
