The non-ferrous metals recycling industry is worth over nine billion dollars in the United States according to a new report. The US Department of the Interior says that secondary non-ferrous metals are becoming an increasingly important component of economic activity. The benefits of recycling according to the Bureau of Mines are energy savings, reduced volumes of waste and reduced emissions associated with energy savings. The report entitled "Recycling Non-ferrous Metals," which reviews the performance of the industry in 1994, predicts continued growth for the secondary metals industry.
