Following the shortages of hot rolled feedstock we detailed in last month's Nickel & Stainless Steels Monthly in Taiwan, the government has been called upon to intervene in what now is a brewing dispute over hot band supply. Yieh United (Yusco), Taiwan's largest stainless steel producer, is concerned that Taiwan's stainless steel industry could be hurt by an influx of HR feed from Europe and elsewhere. Cold roller Chien Shing, however, maintains that CR stainless sheet production will be in crisis if imports of feedstock are restricted by the country's new licensing system.
