Investigation of Reinforced Concrete Pipe Supports in a Fluorhydric Acid Alkylation Unit

Afluorhydric acid (HF) alkylation unit in China was put into production in 1980. Pipe supports are composed of reinforced concrete pillars and beams. Obvious rebar corrosion and concrete damage have occurred on the pillars and beams after more than 30 years of service. This article presents the results of a visual survey and sampling inspection of the pipe supports. The pipe supports are divided into three zones: covered pipe supports in the intermediary zone, covered pipe supports in the acidum zone, and covered pipe supports in the furnace zone.
