KTN Internship at Unilever

Around the start of the second year of my PhD, in 2008, my supervisor approached me about taking part in a 6 month internship with Unilever through the KTN Industrial Mathematics Internship Programme. This was something the KTN was just starting up and so I would be one of the first students from anywhere to participate. The idea was to give a student the opportunity to work in a subject area potentially unrelated to their PhD project over the summer term and provide them with industrial experience they would otherwise not get the chance to have.
