Eastern Area Conference Focuses on Infrastructure

The Eastern Area Conference enjoyed a successful turnout for this annual NAGE event, held this year in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, October 5 to 8. Focusing on the theme of "Corrosion and Coatings Solutions for an Aging Infrastructure," the conference attracted 140 attendees representing engineering firms, research organizations, materials suppliers, and petrochemical and chemical process companies. The conference was sponsored by the West Virginia and Pittsburgh Sections and chaired by Hal George of MSES Consultants. A total of 40 presentations, most of them geared toward the corrosion field person, led to a well-rounded technical program with two main tracks: Cathodic Protection chaired by John Otto of Equitable Gas Co., and Coatings chaired by Jerry Holton of Specialty Polymer Coatings, Inc. Cathodic protection topics included internal corrosion, close interval surveys, new technology, pipeline integrity, and compliance.
