Development and testing of an improved pickling inhibitor formulation for hot 20% sulfuric acid

CPDTB containing 0.25% KI has shown five times less metal loss for 600 s and seven times less metal loss for 45 s test periods than that of a commercial inhibitor in 20% H{sub}2SO{sub}4 at 95 ± 2℃. CPDTB containing 0.25% KI showed four times more percent reduction of hydrogen permeation into the metal. It showed predominantly cathodic behavior while the corrosion inhibitor exhibited mixed behavior in 20% H{sub}2SO{sub}4.
