There are technological merits and economic implications associated with the success of corrosion control and monitoring measures adopted for sour gas systems. The measures can yield cost-effective production routes, better resource management, and improved personnel safety in the natural gas industry in Nigeria. Each corrosion-control measure can present potential hazards, however, and as such, requires the highest possible degree of commitment, skill, knowledge, and understanding of available corrosion mechanism(s), control, and monitoring methods. It is recommended that each measure be decisively and systematically approached and evaluated as a critical production problem in Nigeria's peculiar environment and weather.
