Mining Damages after Termination of the Mine Dewatering in Deep Mining

In spring 1997 coal mining in the district of Erkelenz was stopped. After finishing the mine dewatering, the ground water recovery led to a wide terrain elevation. Since the end of 2000 more and more subsidence damages throughout the area of the Wassenberger Horst, where the coal mining was ceased in the 1980's, had been announced to the VBHG. After a comprehensive presentation of the evidences to the responsible mining company, the VBHG achieved an acceptation as mining damages.
