Chinas imports grew to 3.79mt in August - 0.40mt ahead of the previous month, but down 0.24mt on August last year, according to customs statistics. Coking coal imports surged to 1.06mt - the highest amount on MCR record. This was more than double the amount received in both the previous month and last August, with shipments from Mongolia hitting 0.60mt - also an MCR record figure. Arrivals from Australia resumed after a two month absence, to the tune of 0.26mt, while Russia supplied 64,339t - again, the highest on record. There were no imports from Indonesia for the first time in eight months, but this didn't stop the month's intake surpassing the 1 mt mark for only the second time on record.
