Further Mathematics Network comes to an end,Further Mathematics Support Programme launched

The Further Mathematics Network (FMN) came to an end on31 July, but its success means that the DCSF will continueto fund support for Further Mathematics. From 1 August2009, the FMN was replaced by the Further MathematicsSupport Programme (FMSP). The FMN rescued Further Mathematics from what looked likea terminal decline. In round numbers, since the Further Mathe-matics Network started during academic year 2004-5, thenumber of students taking AS Further Mathematics has trebledto 13164, and the number taking the full A-level Further Mathe-matics has doubled to 10473.
