maths e.g. (http://www.mathcentre.ac.uk:8081/mathseg/) is a very large database of some 2,000 questions spanning the most common mathematical topics from GCSE to level 2 undergradu- ate. In particular, the pervasive nature of A-level topics from the C1-C4, S1, Dl and M1 syllabuses throughout many first-year university degrees (all of STEM but also Social Sciences) means that the questions in algebra, calculus and discrete mathematics are well developed and have been very extensively tested over the last 5-10 years. Our evidence is that students feel they benefit from engaging with the questions, regarding them as a useful learning resource, and that their exam performance is often greatly enhanced, see Figure 1.
