Bidders line up again for 3Fs

AEP's efforts to sell Ferrybridge and Fiddlers Ferry power stations have moved into a new stage, with at least three, probably four, parties being lined up to bid for them. However, Coal UK understands that the bids have now come down to what AEP would have thought desultory levels even a few months ago. This is a reflection partly of the low value of coal-fired assets during the run-up to emissions trading and the effects of the large combustion plant directive, but primarily of the fact that there is nobody left in the market that doesn't know that AEP has to dispose of the stations by the end of the year.
