Another sizeable chunk of value was eroded from spot coal prices this week as an oversupplied Atlantic market and a troubled global economic outlook weighed heavily on the coal market. The physical market opened 10 dollars/t lower on Monday morning, with 151.50 dollars/t DES AR trading through London Commodity Brokers (LCB). The November deal was between two utility/traders and contains an element whereby it has the option to be booked out on FOB barge terms, with stevedore costs agreed at 2.40 dollars/t.
