Russian shipments rise 0.5mt

Seaborne exports from Russia were up in January compared to the same month last year with most ports, with three notable exceptions, showing some increase, according to an MCR port survey. Total exports for the month were 5.84mt, a 0.46mt gain on January 2005 when 5.38mt was shipped. The biggest rise came from Baltic and North Russian ports which shipped 3.38mt, up from 3.07mt in January 2005. This was despite noticeable declines from two of the main ports -Murmansk (down 0.2mt at 0.71mt) and Riga (down 0.2mt at 0.69mt).
