The Korean generators are starting to snap up big volumes of Richards Bay material, and this looks set to become a significant part of their supply portfolio for the fourth quarter and 2008, following their seven-year absence from the South African market. This surge in demand has helped re-invigorate Richards Bay prices and push them over 60 dollars/t FOB and, unlike the spike that followed the Newcastle weather crisis, which proved to be temporary, this level - and higher - looks likely to be sustainable for some time.
