RWE Power proceeds with 1600MW twins at Ensdorf

RWE Power has decided to proceed with construction of two 800MW coal fired units at its existing Ensdorf coal power station site in Saarland, involving investment of 2billion dollars. The application for project approval is to be submitted to the relevant authorities in the next few weeks. Operational, start-up is planned for 2012 at the latest, says the company and the new plant will have efficiency of 46 percent.
