German government steps up CCS support

The German government has adopted all 12 measures to speed up the development and implementation of carbon capture and storage (CCS) that were recommended in a joint report on perspectives for CCS by the economy, environment and research ministries in mid-September. The measures include pressing for a legal framework for CCS at EU level that can be swiftly transposed into national law, and giving "express support towards two or three of the planned 12 demonstration plants EU-wide being realised in Germany."
