RWE Trading places all coal trading into SSM

RWE plans to bring together its own coal trading activities with those of its 100 percent subsidiary SSM Coal during the course of this year. SSM Coal, with headquarters in Rotterdam, will thus become REW's coal trading face to the world.At the same time, the "coal desk" with a staff of four that RWE Trading set up in London back in October 2000 with activities in risk management, physical business, freight derivatives and spark spreads is to be turned into an SSM Risk Management division. This will stay based in London and coordinate all coal trading activities in the RWE Group, working closely with the SSM offices in Rotterdam and Duisburg. The two latter offices will continue with their classical coal distribution business, says Ralf Schafer of RWE Trading.
