RWE Power builds pilot CO_2 scrubber plant

RWE Power is planning a pilot CO_2 scrubber plant at its l,000MW Boa 1 lignite power station, commissioned at Niederaussem in 2002. RWE is cooperating on the project with chemical giant BASF and the Linde Group which will build the plant. It says CO_2 scrubbers are already used in the chemical, oil and gas industries albeit under different conditions, so "what could be better than to bundle the know-how of strong partners who can adapt the technology to improve the energy and economic efficiency to meet our requirements?"
