摘要

Three coal companies have made applications for export allocations in terms of the Phase V expansion of Richards Bay which, if granted in full, will take up more than 80 percent of the 10mt being made available to BEE (black economic empowerment) companies. The three are: The three are: Anglo Inyosi Coal which has applied for a 3.5mt/yr quota; ARM Coal which has applied for 3.2mt/yr; and Exxaro Resources which has applied for 2.5mt/yr. RBCT chairman Kuseni Dlamini said late last year that a total of 26 applications had been received for allocations out of the 10mt/yr available. Decisions on who gets what are due by the end of March. All three companies can be viewed as "heavyweight players" and it seems unlikely that they will get their full quota applications given the clamour from junior BEE players to gain access to the RBCT.
