Harsh winter weather conditions have disrupted transport in the USA, which has buoyed manganese alloy prices and the backlog should see that trend in prices persist in the coming weeks. The European silico-manganese market has increased on fairly tight availability, although a disparity remains between weak southern countries and firmer demand in northern countries. The Chinese silico-manganese market looks vulnerable to the downside after Hebei Iron and Steel Group, the biggest steel mill in China, cut its silico-manganese tender prices for February delivery.
