Molybdenum highlights

Restocking from steel mills, as well as stock liquidation from traders, has been seen on both sides of the Atlantic in the molybdenum market this month. The current softening in molybdenum prices is expected to be a temporary dip, with the market fundamentally supported on reduced producer spot supplies. Despite the softening trend in mid-to-late June, however, average European ferro-molybdenum monthly prices are at their highest levels since the third quarter of 2011. Looking forward, MBR expects European and US ferro-molybdenum prices to remain relatively stable over the third quarter of the year. We do not expect any dramatic pricing drops through the summer lull.
