Canadian met coal exports still struggling

Canada's met coal exports edged up from January's record low of 1mt, with 1.40mt being shipped in February, according to customs statistics. This was still 39 percent (0.90mt) lower than last February's shipments, and the third lowest level of monthly shipments on MCR record. Despite the collapse in exports, China's take was its highest since April 2004 with 0.35mt, as deadlocked domestic price talks forced Chinese producers to import in order to remain cost-effective.
