Canadians, Australians and Indians get into SA Coal

South Africa's glowing coal sector continues to attract newcomers with the latest being Toronto-listed Homeland Energy which officially opened its Kendal mine near Witbank on October 1. Australian-listed Firestone Energy has also thrown its hat into the ring announcing a joint venture with little-known SA partner Sekoko Coal that is looking at opening up a new mine in the Waterberg. So far, the only operating coal mine in the Waterberg is Exxaro's huge multi-product Grootegeluk operation although Anglo Coal is assessing a potential coal bed methane project there.
