Straits Asia posts increase in H1 production, prices

Straits Asia, the Singapore-listed producer of Indonesian coal, posted increased first half production and sales prices, offsetting increasing costs. First half production was 5.45mt, up from 4.99mt in the first half of 2010. Output from the Jembayan mine in East Kalimantan rose to 4.78mt in the reported half, up from 4.56mt. But Jembayans second quarter production dropped year-on-year to 2.35mt from 2.47mt, while higher strip ratios also pushed it below the first quarter 2011 level of 2.43mt.
