BHPB expands met and thermal coal capacity

BHP Billiton has confirmed total investments of almost 5.5bn Australia dollars (same in US dollars) to expand managed Queensland met coal capacity by a further 4.9mt/yr and New South Wales thermal capacity by about 4mt/yr, with all projects slated for completion in 2013. The company has also formalised an earlier-mooted 2.5bn Australia dollars expansion of its single-user Hay Point coal terminal in Queensland from the current 44mt/yr capacity to 55mt/yr by 2014.
