China's large-diameter market set for take-off

The consequences of the Russian/Chinese gas deal will not just impact on the Russian large-diameter pipe (LDP) market, this will also have an influence on the Chinese LDP market moving forward. As mentioned in the European and CIS section on Page 5, the $400bn gas deal signed between the heads of both Gazprom and CNPC this month will lead to 38 billion m3 (bcm) of gas being imported from Russia to China and it is expected to stimulate demand for Russian LSAW linepipe. Chinese large-diameter linepipe demand also looks set to gain from the deal.
