Colombia moves to speed up environmental approvals

COLOMBIA'S new minister of environment is introducing changes in the environmental licensing process that should reduce the wait time for mining and oil companies to secure approvals. According to the government, so called "express licences" could be awarded to companies by the National Environmental Licences Agency (ANLA) in less than four months, compared to last year's wait period of at least 14 months. In 2012, the wait period was a little shorter at 7 to 8 months.
