Domestic prices still firming in China, CFR prices steady

CHINESE DOMESTIC steam coal prices continued their upwards momentum this week, despite speculation that prices may be near to peaking. Concerns have been raised by some market participants that China's economic growth looks increasingly likely to be hindered by the banking troubles in the Eurozone. Indications are that Chinese production of export goods earmarked for Europe is already softening and this is expected to impact on power demand.
