Kuzbassrazrezugol's move into power

Kuzbassrazrezugol, parent of Russia's biggest exporter, KRUTrade, is negotiating for a controlling stake in the utility Novosibirskenergo, one of the customers for its coal. The stake is that believed to be held by Mikhail Abyzov who was, until June 4, deputy CEO of the electricity monopoly RAO UES and a successful businessman in his own right. The deal is expected to be completed in September. At the last Kuzbassrazrezugol shareholders meeting it was decided to streamline the management structure so that the company called Management Company Kuzbassrazrezugol would single-handedly manage all the mining and service assets: 50 percent of Management Company Kuzbassrazrezugol belongs to the shareholders of the coal mining company Kuzbassrazrezugol, and the other 50 percent to the Russian Management Company (RUKOM) also owned by Mikhail Abyzov.
