Importers face testing time over China's new quality regs

FROM JANUARY 1,2015, traders shipping coal into China should expect longer line-ups at the discharging ports where local inspection agencies will conduct stricter checks on all imported coal, under new regulations on the quality of commercial coal. The Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (CIQ) of the Guangdong province, one of the largest consuming provinces for seaborne import coal in southern China, held a meeting last week, calling in major traders in the region to go over the implementation of the new quality control measures.
