The infiuences of an applied electromagnetic fieldand cooling conditions on the as cast and aged structures ofcentrifugally cast heat resistant HK40 steel tubes wereinvestigated. The results reveal that both the electromagneticfield and the cooling ability of the casting mould havesignipcant effects on the macrostructure morphology and thevolume fraction and distribution of eutectic carbides, as wellas on the homogeneity of secondary precipitation caused by hightemperature aging treatment. The differences in the structuresare attributed to the different solidification processes of thecast tubes. It is indicated that a reasonable combination ofelectromagnetic field and cooling conditions duringsolidification is greatly beneficial, leading to animprovement of creep resistance of cast tubes.MST/4087
