Manganese highlights

The manganese alloy markets are largely stagnant worldwide with little pricing movement on light trading volumes. Almost all second-quarter business has already been concluded and companies have yet to place orders for the third quarter. The mood in China, however, can only be considered to be gloomy due to expectations that silico-manganese furnace restarts at several large smelters could depress domestic prices. In the USA, the industry is waiting to see if or when Felman will be restarting its West Virginia smelter and what impact that will have. The Russian/Ukrainian crisis continues to be monitored carefully, but it has not yet had a notable impact on the manganese alloy market.
