Q3 charge chrome contracts still under negotiation

The fourth week of July has still not brought the market any closer to a resolution of the third-quarter charge chrome contract price, with consumers and sellers still in heated discussions about the direction prices should take. As we mentioned last month, benchmark contract prices do typically fall during the third quarter and we believed this would most likely be the case again for third-quarter prices. The possibility of a decline most definitely still exists, but the prolonged nature of the negotiations may suggest that ferro-chrome smelters are sticking more firmly to their demands.
