Silicon metal highlights

With silicon metal supplies poised to rise, particularly in China, in the near term, we suspect the pricing peak has been reached for the current quarter. Demand from the chemicals and aluminium sectors remains steady, but pressure on spot market prices has eased as consumers generally have suffcient quantities of silicon metal on contract. We suspect prices may slide in the coming months before stabilising and moving higher after the northern hemisphere summer slowdown.
