Thermodynamic Study on the High-Alkali Glass Fiber Cloth Composites

摘要

High-alkali glass fiber cloth (HGFC) composites have been increasingly used in the application of high temperature resistance and energy absorption. This paper presents the results of an investigation into the complex thermodynamic behavior of HGFC. The coefficients of thermal expansion, specific-heat and heat of sublimation of HGFC are acquired by conducting various sophisticated laboratory tests. Based on the uniaxial compression test results with a wide range of strain-rate between 10~(-4) ~ 10~4/s, one nonlinear viscoelastic constitutive model for the off-plane compression of HGFC composites is subsequently proposed and verified by test data. It is established that the basic thermophysical constants are critical for the practical application of HGFC and the proposed stress-strain relation is feasible in capturing the fundamental mechanical behavior of HGFC with reasonably good accuracy.
