Compressional Behavior of Hairy and Non Hairy Textile Fabrics

When you touched a textile, you would compress in the thickness direction of the textile with your finger to feel it and then select which garment you would choose. In the present article, we are demonstrating that hairiness changes the behavior of fabric in compression by adjusting the compression curve of hairy and non-hairy fabrics. In fact, the compression behavior of fabric comes from the combination of two mechanical phenomena, which are the bending of the hairs and the compression of the hairs and structure. Finally, we are showing that hairy fabrics, such as velvet fabrics, present a bi-layer behavior.
