In your News item (PJ, 20 June 2009, p733), you reported that community pharmacists and pharmacy technicians have been removed from the UK Border Agency's shortage occupation list. Early in 2009, the NHS Workforce Review Team submitted evidence to the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) recommending that pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in all sectors should be included on the shortage occupation list.The evidence submitted included important workforce information from key stakeholders (including the Royal Pharmaceutical Society). However, after reviewing the evidence, the MAC concluded that only pharmacists employed by the NHS should be included.
