The number of NHS prescriptions dispensed in Scotland rose again over the past financial year (2008-09). According to statistics published by NHS Scotland's Information Services Division last week, the number of prescription items dispensed in Scotland (excluding items prescribed under the minor ailment service and stock orders) increased by 4 per cent to 84.2 million in 2008-09 compared with the previous year.
