摘要

The basic performance in service of carburised steels is dictated by the microstructure and in turn the carbon and hardness profile of the carburised case at the surface of the steel.An investigation into altering the profile by the use of Pulse Boost Diffuse (PBD) carburising in a fluidised bed has been undertaken on 9310 type steels. It has been shown that it is possible to alter the carbon and hardness profile by this technique and this paper discusses the optimisation of the process.
