-All parts distort in heat treatment.-Heat treatment distortion is a complex phenomenon and is influenced by many factors.-Need to identify the major factors and control these (within economic constraints).-Need the best possible (affordable),*Equipment*Monitors/control systems*Documentation-Continuously monitor and adjust the process.The aim is to produce a consistent process because this produces a consistent result and the most important objective in the control of heat treatment distortion is to produce a final gear shape that is predictable.
